When amateur bloggers hear about backlinks as one of the ways to improve their search-ability online, they immediately focus their attention on getting more backlinks, and this desperation often drives them into settling for useless and inferior backlinks which do not add anything to their chances of ranking.
Even, in most cases, the backlinks which people use for their SEO campaigns only result in their site getting ranked lower based on the integrity of the backlinks.

Many SEO campaigns fail because people are failing to understand the difference (and importance) between HTTP and HTTPS. The extra S is confirmation that communications on the site are encrypted by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) or Transport Layer Security (TLS).
This is important because Google cares about internet safety, and mostly, about the safety of people accessing the web through their search engine. For this reason, they consider sites without the extra security to be potentially malicious or more easily prone to cyber attacks and they rank these sites lower to protect their users from the unsuspected harm that such sites pose.
